Morrab Library
Visit to the Morrab Library Penzance

This house was built in 1841 by Samuel Pidwell, a wealthy brewer from London. It was bought by the Council in 1889 and housed the Penzance Library.
The group was welcomed by Dawn who gave us refreshments and a guided tour of the different sections of the library, which is now an independent charity: http://www.morrablibrary.org.uk/
It houses a collection started by 100 men of Penzance in 1818, although Penzance ladies had established a library nearly fifty years earlier.

After the Library visit the group enjoyed lunch at Archie Brown's vegetarian cafe in Bread Street.

Our social events tend to alterate between outings to places of interest, and bring and share lunches at the homes of members.
